ERIC BURDON & WAR ~ THE COMPLETE CD COLLECTION RHINO 603497819744 (Barcode: 603497819744) ~ UK ~ Classic Rock Recorded: 1969 - 1970 Released: 2025 This Box Set presents the reissue / remaster of the recorded legacy by British singer / songwriter Eric BurdonFind albums by this artist and the Californian group WarFind albums by this artist. It includes the two original albums recorded by Burdon and War: “Eric Burdon Declares `War`Find albums with this title” and the 2LP album “The Black-Man`s BurdonFind albums with this title”, both released in 1970 and the 1976 compilation of previously unissued material called “Love Is All AroundFind albums with this title”. Most of the material was composed / written collectively by War members, with a few Blues standards and Rock songs by others also included. There are no bonus tracks, but the sound quality is sensational. War were a septet, which played a superb mixture of Pop, Rock, Blues, Soul, Rhythm And Blues and a touch of Jazz, and combined with the sensational vocal capabilities of Burdon they offered an irresistible sound and became a live sensation. Sadly, the association with Burdon was short-lived, but the material they managed to record together is truly classic and sounds as fresh today as it did at the time. Many of the vocals by Burdon were close to spoken word and in retrospect might be considered as a precursor of rap. Burdon’s affinity to the Blues was the most distinctive characteristic of his vocals, since the early days when he was the lead singer of the AnimalsFind albums by this artist, and he remains as one of the best British Blues singers ever. Overall, this Box Set is an absolute delight from start to finish. For the veterans among us, this is a wonderful trip down the nostalgic lane, and for the young listeners, this should be a true revelation, which proves that this music puts everything recorded today to shame.

WAR ~ THE CD COLLECTION 1971 - 1975 RHINO 603497815968 (Barcode: 603497815968) ~ USA ~ Jazz-Funk Fusion Recorded: 1971 - 1975 Released: 2025 This Box Set is the 2nd part of a reissue / remaster series of the recorded legacy by the brilliant American Jazz-Funk Fusion group WarFind albums by this artist. It presents the second phase of the group’s existence, following the separation from the British vocalist Eric BurdonFind albums by this artist and includes five albums: “WarFind albums with this title” (1971), “All Day MusicFind albums with this title” (1971), “The World Is A GhettoFind albums with this title” (1972), “Deliver The WordFind albums with this title” (1973) and “Why Can`t We Be Friends?Find albums with this title” (1975). Almost all of the material was composed by the group members. There are no bonus tracks, but the sound quality is excellent. War were a brilliant collection of superb instrumentalists and together created a superb mixture of Soul, Funk and Jazz, which sounds today as good as it did at the time. In retrospect they were light-years ahead of their time musically and most contemporary groups creating music in similar genres sound ridiculously weak in comparison to the music War created over fifty years ago. Deeply rooted in Jazz, the music includes ambitious instrumental soloing and complex structures, which are accessible to a wide audience due to the rhythmic pulsations and vocal parts, but in retrospect the music reveals incredible depth and sophistication. Overall, this Box Set is an absolute delight from start to finish. For the veterans among us, this is a wonderful trip down memory lane, and for the young listeners, this should be a true revelation, which proves that this music puts everything recorded today to shame.
