JOHN SURMAN ~ THE SPACES IN BETWEEN
ECM 1956 (Barcode: 602517235861) ~ UK ~ Jazz-Classical Fusion

Recorded: 2006 Released: 2007

This is a breathtakingly beautiful and divine album by British saxophonist / composer John SurmanFind albums by this artist, who again proves being one of the central figures in contemporary music worldwide. Accompanied only by the brilliant veteran British bassist Chris LaurenceFind albums by this artist and a string quartet, Surman explores this time the realms of chamber Jazz, integrating the string quartet arrangements and individual string parts into his music with amazing skill and ingenuity. The eleven new compositions presented here are brilliant from start to finish, as always, presenting yet another vista of his amazing talent and versatility. There is no point in going much further here, as anybody familiar with Surman´s prolific body of work needs no convincing; those who don´t, well it´s never too late, is it?
