The album presents eight tracks, all original compositions by Koivistoinen, except one Folk song arranged by him. The music is a mixture of modern mainstream Jazz, which already shows the specific characteristics of Finnish Jazz, as well as some influences of Jazz-Rock Fusion and Progressive Rock, which were exploding in parallel to the fast development of the local Jazz, influenced by Finnish Folklore Roots, and other fascinating phenomena, which made the Finnish Jazz scene of the early 1970s a truly epic period, highly regarded also in other European countries. All the musicians, although quite young at the time, were already highly experienced and full of passion and confidence, which resulted in a wonderfully energetic recording, based the wonderful original compositions by the leader. Overall, this is a great time capsule, presenting the Finnish Jazz scene at its best, and offers some timeless music, which sounds amazingly contemporary today. It is a great tribute to these great musicians and I am very happy to see it reissued by SvartFind albums on this label Records, which is doing a great job to preserve the Finnish Jazz legacy.
