STEVE KUHN ~ TRANCE
ECM 1052 (Barcode: 602498717745) ~ USA ~ Jazz

Recorded: 1974 Released: 1990

This is the debut album on the ECMFind albums on this label label by US pianist / composer Steve KuhnFind albums by this artist, one of the greatest American Jazz musicians on the contemporary scene. The album presents eight original compositions by Kuhn, performed by a quartet, which includes electric bassist Steve SwallowFind albums by this artist, drummer Jack DeJohnetteFind albums by this artist and percussionist Sue EvansFind albums by this artist. It´s quite obvious why Kuhn opted to record his albums on ECM at the time, as his music is definitely quite different from the American mainstream, full of romanticism and intellectual excursions, which fitted the European modern Jazz idiom like a glove. This is absolutely gorgeous music from start to finish and lost nothing of its charm over the years. Together with the 3 CD set "Life`s Backward GlancesFind albums with this title" this album presents Kuhn´s 1970s recordings at their full glory. Not to ne missed!
