NARKUN TRIO ~ NATURE AND INTENTION
NOT ON LABEL ~ POLAND ~ Jazz

Recorded: 2022 Released: 2024

This is the debut album by a Polish Jazz trio led by pianist / composer Aleksander NarkunFind albums by this artist, with guitarist Maja BiesekFind albums by this artist and bassist Adam PachlaFind albums by this artist. The album presents seven tracks, six of which are original composition by Narkun and one by Biesek. The album offers excellent sound quality.

The music is a first-rate example of Chamber Jazz, which offers a collection of quite complex compositions, which are superbly executed by the trio. Despite the fact that the guitar is electric, the trio offers a predominantly acoustic ambience and a wonderfully delicate balance. All three musicians improvise extensively, and although the music is based on strictly composed melodic lines, the music offers a lot of freedom and space, which requires attentive listening. There are also strong ties to contemporary Classical Music, for the more advanced music connoisseurs.

It is pretty astonishing to hear such an advanced and complex music created by such young musicians, which again and again testifies as to the incredible level of musicianship amongst the young generation of the Polish Jazz scene.

Overall, this is a very interesting debut, which obviously should prompt the Polish Jazz scene followers to keep a close eye (or rather ear) on these musicians, waiting impatiently for their next endeavors. Very well done indeed!
