DR ZOLO ~ TRICKSTER MUSIC
MUSIC AND MORE (Barcode: 5907367238051) ~ POLAND ~ Jazz-Rock Fusion

Recorded: 2025 Released: 2025

This is the debut album by Polish trio Dr ZoloFind albums by this artist, which comprises of keyboardist Maciej DymekFind albums by this artist, drummer Pawel KowalskiFind albums by this artist and saxophonist Bartosz SmoragiewiczFind albums by this artist. The album presents ten tracks, which are uncredited on the album’s artwork.

The music offers a mixture of numerous influences and trends, between Rock, Punk, Acid Rock and Jazz-Rock Fusion, all engulfed in a weird sonic ambience, strongly immersed in electronic sound effects. The music is rather simplistic and even catchy, but the overall sound and attitude resemble some Progressive Rock experiments in the early 1970s.

Smoragiewicz, who is a member of the Milo EnsembleFind albums by this artist, is the most impressive musician and his Jazzy improvisations are the focus of this music. The keyboards provide the melodic lines and background layers and the drums are mostly way in the background. But the ensemble sound is quite interesting, although somewhat outdated IMHO.

Overall, this is an interesting piece of music, which might have been sensational some fifty years ago, but is mostly out of place in today’s music. Listeners from the older generation, like yours truly, might delight in the nostalgic Progressive Rock memories. Personally, I quite enjoyed the music, but I have no idea how it will be received by contemporary listeners. Good luck with it!
