Two of the members (Edén CarrascoFind albums by this artist – alto sax and Christian BidártFind albums by this artist – drums) are also members in the amazing Akinetón RetardFind albums by this artist ensemble, Chilean most interesting Prog / RIO act. Although Chilean Prog has been making big waves in the last decade, there is very little output from the local Jazz scene and this is a most welcome release. The trio plays all original compositions by the band members and this live recording allows them to stretch out and play their hearts out. The music is quite fascinating, well based in the highly improvised free jazz tradition but also mixing at times rockier rhythms and ethnic themes. Although complex and demanding, this music should be very appealing to a wide array of listeners between pure jazz buffs to RIO enthusiasts. Highly recommended.
