  | MADAME JEANPIERRE ~ A QUIET PATH WITHIN SOLITON 1703 (Barcode: 5903684237036) ~ POLAND ~ Jazz-Pop Fusion Recorded: 2025 Released: 2025
This is the 4th album by the Polish ensemble Madame JeanpierreFind albums by this artist, co-led by vocalist Joanna MarkowskaFind albums by this artist and guitarist Maciej MuszynskiFind albums by this artist, and including also bassist Jedrzej LaciakFind albums by this artist and drummer Bartek StaromiejskiFind albums by this artist. Three guest musicians participate on selected tracks. The album presents nine tracks, seven of which are original songs composed by Muszynski with English lyrics by Markowska, and two are Polish standards.
Despite my great love of Polish music and an honest effort on my side, I could not find much to like about this album: the original music is mundane, the lyrics are trivial, the vocals are boring, the English accent and pronunciation are unbearable, and even the guest musicians are not helping, except for a very nice violin part on one track. The two standards, both originally great songs, are literally “murdered”. The only ray of light is the guitar playing, which although hardly original, is at least acceptable, and the rhythm section, which I have encountered before on other recordings, and which tries the best to make this music work.
Overall, as usual I blame myself and my hearing for disliking this album, obviously something is wrong with me as far as this music is concerned. I did manage to listen to it in its entirety, looking for a ray of hope, alas…
