This is the 50th Anniversary Limited Edition of an album by British singer / songwriter Cat StevensFind albums by this artist, which presents the soundtrack to the cult American 1971 film “Harold And Maude”, written by Colin HigginsFind albums by this artist and directed by Hal AshbyFind albums by this artist. Stevens wrote two new songs for the film and recorded new versions of seven songs from his albums “Mona Bone JakonFind albums with this title” (1970) and “Tea For The TillermanFind albums with this title” (1970). The album presents nineteen tracks and includes all the musical tracks from the film’s soundtrack as well as six spoken dialogues from the film. The album includes an in depth article about the film and the significance of the music, which is very enlightening.
Although the film was initially heavily criticized (as often happens to great films and other pieces of Art), in retrospect it is considered as a true Classic of American cinematography, which perfectly catches the ambience of the era. Stevens’ music was the perfect soundtrack for the film, as it remains also a classic reflection of the brilliant era, when Pop / Rock music was meaningful, sophisticated and everlasting.
Overall, this is brilliant piece of both music and film history, which should delight all Cat Stevens fans, since parts of this material are present here for the first time and the remastered sound is a joy. Definitely not to be missed!
