PIOTR WOJTASIK ~ INSCAPE
INDYGO 004 (Barcode: 5907222872048) ~ POLAND ~ Jazz

Recorded: 2024 Released: 2025

This is the 4th album by Polish Jazz trumpeter / composer Piotr WojtasikFind albums by this artist, released on his record label IndygoFind albums on this label Records. The music was recorded at the legendary Van Gelder Studio in NJ, USA, in a quintet setting with three American Jazz musicians: Jamaica born and US resident saxophonist Mark ShimFind albums by this artist, pianist Greg MurphyFind albums by this artist and drummer Alvester GarnettFind albums by this artist, and Dutch bassist Joris TeepeFind albums by this artist, who is Wojtasik’s long time musical partner. The album presents six tracks, all original compositions by Wojtasik.

On this album Wojtasik returns to the strict modern Mainstream format, with a set of excellent compositions, which serve as a vehicle for the musicians to play extensive solo parts. Wojtasik plays with the Americans on a complete equal footing, proving that his Jazz sensitivities are completely universal and he deserves to be treated as one of their own.

The music does not relate to the typical Polish characteristics, like deep melancholy and lyricism, which usually are the recognizable qualities of Polish Jazz. The tunes are beautifully weaved and coherent, as always in the case of Wojtasik’s compositions, and offer an enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere, which should keep any Jazz lover satisfied.

Overall, this is another strong statement by one of most respected and recognized Polish Jazz musicians, composers and educators, whose long-lasting contribution to the local scene is undeniable, here supported by a solid team of world class musicians.
