The first album presented five tracks, four of which were original compositions by Brasil and one was a standard. The second album presented four tracks, all compositions by Brazilian legend Antonio Carlos JobimFind albums by this artist. This reissue adds two bonus tracks, which are alternate takes from the first album. The music is very melodic and somewhat influenced by the Brazilian undertones, but not a typical Brazilian Jazz recording, which normally is soaked in Samba and Bossa Nova, but here it is much closer to the American Jazz conventions. All the instrumentalists perform flawlessly and the young (aged twenty-five at the time of the recording) saxophonist shows his already highly developed technique and great talent. Sadly, Brasil died at the age of thirty-five, much too early to leave a significant mark on the Brazilian Jazz, that he truly deserved. Overall, this is a very interesting document of the early Brazilian Jazz scene, which is a must have for all the enthusiasts of that fascinating period, and a great tribute to an early hero, who deserves to be remembered.
