The album presents seven tracks, which are a mixture of Jazz standards, original compositions and African Folk songs. The DVD offers the video document of the gig. The music offers a somewhat semi-formal 70th birthday celebration party, a gig which certainly wasn’t intended for release on an album, but the sound quality is pretty good and the music is everything one would expect from such an informal gathering of great musicians, and is a rare document of the late period of Baker’s career, which ended with his demise in 2019. Overall, although not spectacular, this is a worthy addition to Baker’s recorded legacy, which was as extensive as one might have hoped for, certainly from the last years of his life, especially when accompanied of a video document. Definitely worth checking out.
