CEREBUS EFFECT ~ RETURNING TO THE BEGINNING
NOT ON LABEL ~ USA ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 2001 - 2002 Released: 2007

This is a reissue of the first two albums (EPs) by US Prog / Fusion band Cerebus EffectFind albums by this artist: "Live At OrionFind albums with this title" and "Dark MatterFind albums with this title". The band, led by guitarist / keyboardist Joseph WalkerFind albums by this artist, includes also bassists Louis ShermanFind albums by this artist (on the first album) and Mike GalwayFind albums by this artist (on the second album) and drummer Patrick GaffneyFind albums by this artist (see also Chaos CodeFind albums by this artist). They play a highly dynamic mixture of Fusion, Avant-Garde improvisations and industrial sound, creating a completely unique musical experience, comparable perhaps to Djam KaretFind albums by this artist but not derivative. This is definitely worth getting into by fans of unusual and adventurous music. Highly recommended!

CHAOS CODE ~ A TAPESTRY OF AFTERTHOUGHTS
NOT ON LABEL ~ USA ~ Progressive Rock

Recorded: 1999 Released: 1999

This is the 1st album by the excellent US Prog group Chaos CodeFind albums by this artist, which on this album consists of guitarist Cliff PhelpsFind albums by this artist, keyboardist Marty SalettaFind albums by this artist, bassist Philip RousFind albums by this artist and drummer Daniel SquillaroFind albums by this artist. They play an incredible "retro" Prog, which sounds as if it was recorded at the peak of the genre in mid-1970s. Superb instrumental work by all the participants and excellent compositions make this a little-known gem of rare quality. The use of flute and brass add additional layers of sound to the overall effect. Those few familiar with the album often suggest that the band displays somewhat Scandinavian feel, like AnglagardFind albums by this artist, but regardless of what this music reminds the listener, it is simply gorgeous. This is definitely one of the nicest Prog albums recorded at the close of last Century. A must to any serious Prog fan!
