This is a solo album by Polish cellist / multi-instrumentalist / composer Mikolaj BlaszczykFind albums by this artist, who uses the BlascelloFind albums by this artist moniker. Since the promo CD offers no detailed information, I assume Blaszczyk plays on all the instruments featured on the recording and composed all the music, which appears on nine tracks and lasts for slightly over half an hour.
The music offers solid melodies, which are presented in cross-genre arrangements, which combine Classical, Folklore, Pop and Cinematic approaches, with the cello offering somewhat improvised soloing on top, which adds a slight Jazzy accent.
The music is quite pleasant but the album completely lacks a coherent direction, being probably a demo of Blaszczyk’s abilities as performer and composer, rather than a serious musical offering. Having said that, he certainly has potentially much to offer as an Artist, once he develops his own personal style and expression.
Overall, this is a nice display of Blaszczyk’s talents, which offers some entertaining value, but little musical depth. For cello lovers, there are many pleasurable moments herein.
