  | ARTSRUNI ~ CRUZAID MUSEA 4446 (Barcode: 3426300044464) ~ ARMENIA ~ Progressive Rock Recorded: 2001 - 2002 Released: 2003
This is the 2nd album by the Armenian Prog band ArtsruniFind albums by this artist, the brainchild of guitarist Vahan ArtsruniFind albums by this artist, who is one of the most prominent musicians in his country with extensive experience in Classical music, Armenian folklore and Art Rock. The band is a sextet (two guitars, flute, bass, drums and percussion), but they often play with a chamber orchestra and even the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. All the music on this album is recorded in the studio (previous release was all live recordings) with superb sound quality and delicate balance between the acoustic and electric instruments. The music (all composed by Vahan Artsuni) is a beautiful intermixture of Prog with elements of Armenian folk motifs (the composer is strongly influenced by the legendary Armenian composer KomitasFind albums by this artist). The atmosphere is full of delicate mysticism, ancient memories and exquisite melodies. Imagine Jethro Tull but replace the British folk motifs with Armenian ones. This music requires attentive listening and open-mindedness but is extremely rewarding and deeply moving. A gem of the Prog genre and very highly recommended!
