This is a live album by the Slovak Jazz trumpeter / composer Laco DecziFind albums by this artist and the Czech version of his Jazz CellulaFind albums by this artist quartet, with guitarist Zdenek FiserFind albums by this artist, bassist Ondrej PodhajskyFind albums by this artist and drummer Laco Deczi, Jr.Find albums by this artist (his son). The album presents eight tracks, one of which is his original composition and the rest are Jazz standards.
Deczi was one of the godfathers of the Czechoslovak Jazz scene and recorded numerous albums between the 1960s and 1980s. He emigrated to the US in 1985 and there he continued his Jazz career leading the Cellula InternationalFind albums by this artist / Cellula New YorkFind albums by this artist ensembles. He visits the Czech Republic often and released several live albums recorded during his visits, this being one of them.
The music is strictly within the mainstream Jazz genre, which means there are no surprises here, but the musicianship is excellent. Deczi is a remarkable trumpeter and he seems to be unaffected by age, and Fiser is a superb guitarist, more Jazz-Rock / Fusion than mainstream inclined, which can be clearly heard while he plays solos.
Overall, this is another excellent album by Deczi and his cohorts, always worth being listened to, completely resistant to aging. Jazz trumpet enthusiasts should have a field day with this music.
