| | Progressive Rock / History & Criticism The author is a musician and a Philosophy Professor - a strange combination, but he knows his Prog. A fascinating book, although sometimes quite demanding reading (especially for people less aqauianted with the intricacies of the English language). The book deals with the music as well as the philosophical aspects of the Prog phenomenon. A must for every Prog fan! |
|
| MARTIN, BILL ~ MUSIC OF YES: STRUCTURE AND VISION IN PROGRESSIVE ROCK | OPEN COURT PUBLISHING ~ 0-8126-9333-7 ~ 1996 ~ English
| | Progressive Rock / History & Criticism / Biography The author is a musician and a Philosophy Professor - a strange combination, but he knows his Prog. In this book he concentrates on the music of the group Yes as a symbol of Prog (which is problematic to some extent as a concept) and develops an entire philosophical thesis as to its aspects. Fascinating reading, but quite difficult if you´re not used to such approach. Even the hardest Yes fans might start wondering what he´s talking about at some points. Still a heck of a book! |
